HORIZON folding solar roof from dhp technology

The lightweight construction, efficient folding mechanism and intelligent sensor technology of the award-winning HORIZON folding solar roof from dhp technology mean it can be used in places where permanent, conventional solar systems are uneconomical or even impossible. The lightweight construction also enables the dual use of effective space for solar production. Its folding mechanism is particularly efficient in difficult

weather conditions, such as strong wind, hail or snow, as it simply folds up by itself and retracts into the garage provided for it. Because of the time savings and high process reliability, dhp technology decided to use our GAV 8000 blind riveting machine. With the GAV, the metal frames for the solar panels are safely and quickly riveted.

dhp technology is an innovative start-up in the field of renewable energies. With their vision of a modern energy supply, they aim to meet the requirements of environment, society and economy alike.

Project-details:

The process of riveting the frame elements together is not yet fully automated; instead, it is carried out manually with a rivet gun. The GAV 8000 offers numerous advantages over a conventional riveting tool even when operated manually. Setting process monitoring enables the setting process to be fully controlled and documented. The automatic rivet feed and spent mandrel evacuation further simplifies the process.
“This saves us a lot of time during assembly, which can also be carried out irrespective of the employees,” says Fabian Vogelbacher, Head of Production at dhp technology AG.

He says that, thanks to the GESIPA® GAV 8000, the company is also well equipped for the future, because the direction is clear:
“As a next step, we want to integrate the existing process monitoring into the downstream automated line. In lightweight construction, every rivet is needed. If one rivet is forgotten or is not set correctly, the setting process monitoring system will report this in real time in future,” says Vogelbacher.
Their goal is to transfer the setting process itself to a robot later on, he says.

The GESIPA® GAV 8000 modular automatic blind riveting machine was specifically developed for the industry's needs. All versions can be integrated into robot systems. Compared with standard blind riveting tools, the amount of money and time you need to invest can be cut by as much as 50%. One of the main reasons for this huge potential for savings is the fact that as many as 40 blind rivets are set per minute in a maximum operating radius of 5 m.
