An excerpt of the innovations from the last few decades:

1956 – NTX

1956 – NTX

In 1956, just one year after GESIPA® was founded, the Nietomat NT I laid the foundation for the success story of the hand riveting tool. Company founder Dr Hans-Georg Biermann applied for a patent for the ‘hand riveting tool for making blind rivet joints’ and advertised it as ‘the new type of automatic riveting tool as a hand riveter’.

Over the following years, GESIPA® continued to develop the Nietomat, introducing a succession of models from NT II to NT IV, before finally launching the modern NTX hand rivet tool. This set new standards in terms of precision, comfort and durability and was even offered in a gold colour for the 50th anniversary in 2006.

With the NTX-F, GESIPA® introduced a further development that enables automatic mandrel ejection thanks to its opening spring. Both models are characterised by a long stroke, a patented intermediate lever system for force reduction and pleasant handling.

1970 – GAV

1970 – GAV

The first GAV automatic riveting machine

GESIPA® set a milestone in joining technology in 1970 with the introduction of the first GAV automatic riveting machine. Unique at the time, the GAV revolutionised the automated processing of blind rivets and laid the foundation for modern production solutions.

1994: Automatic spent mandrel extraction as standard

In 1994, the GAV series was further developed with the introduction of the GAV 7000. For the first time, an automatic spent mandrel extraction system was integrated as standard, significantly improving the efficiency and cleanliness of the processing and once again making GESIPA® a pioneer in blind riveting technology.

2023 – GAV with sustainability update

With the revised GAV, GESIPA® presented another innovation in blind riveting technology in 2023 that redefines efficiency and sustainability.

Thanks to a number of technical improvements, the compressed air consumption of the automatic riveting machines has been reduced by up to 24% – a significant advance that lowers energy consumption and protects the environment. At the same time, the performance of the GAV has even been increased under certain conditions, making it an even more powerful tool.

The optimised disposal of spent mandrels is particularly impressive: a significantly stronger vacuum now allows the use of hose packages up to 8 metres long, considerably extending the flexibility and reach of the GAV. The reduced fluctuations in compressed air in the customer's system also ensure more stable and efficient operation.

1992 – AccuBird®

1992 – AccuBird®

The first battery-powered blind rivet tool

In 1992, GESIPA® revolutionised joining technology with the introduction of the world's first battery-powered blind rivet setting tool – the AccuBird®.

This groundbreaking invention made it possible to work without cables with maximum flexibility and laid the foundation for today's generation of modern battery-powered riveting tools. The AccuBird® has been further developed over the past few decades and has become a real all-rounder. It is still popular and appreciated by our customers today.

About PolyGrip®

2000 – FireBird®

2000 – FireBird®

GESIPA® reached a significant milestone in the processing of blind rivet nuts with the introduction of the FireBird. Specially developed for quick, wireless processing on construction sites and in industrial manufacturing, the FireBird's low weight and easy handling allow for extremely fast work with high performance.

Thanks to the Li-ion technology, the device offers low self-discharge and a long battery life. The battery shape is particularly practical, allowing the device to be placed on the battery. The FireBird has an optimised torque for drilling open the blind rivet nut and an automatic shut-off function that ensures precision. The setting and drilling processes are functionally separated, which allows for efficient handling, while the automatic drilling function further simplifies the workflow.

With its robust, impact-resistant construction, a well-balanced centre of gravity and an ergonomic handle, the FireBird ensures fatigue-free working. Thanks to its reliability and durability, the FireBird is still part of our programme today and continues to be appreciated in demanding applications.

About the FireBird

2001 – TAURUS®-Serie

2001 – TAURUS®-Serie

The introduction of the TAURUS® series marked a milestone in fastening technology.

With its patented gripper mechanism and chuck jaw system, this tool series set new standards. Thanks to their minimal weight and exceptionally high setting force, the TAURUS® tools combine efficiency and power in a unique way. The optimal use of compressed air ensures maximum efficiency and shortens work cycles considerably.

In addition, the devices score points with low-vibration operation, sound attenuation and minimal recoil – ideal for comfortable and pleasant work.

Today, the TAURUS® family, which is constantly being further developed, continues to stand for reliability, efficiency and ergonomics.

2010 – FireFox®

2010 – FireFox®

Since its introduction in 2010, the pneumatic-hydraulic Firefox series from GESIPA® has stood for innovation and reliability in the setting of blind rivet nuts.

With features such as precise setting force adjustment, which is gentle on the materials being joined and the thread, and the automatic pre-drilling function, the Firefox series offers maximum user comfort and exceptional process reliability.

The versatile tools cover a wide range of applications from M3 to M12 and also allow for secure processing of multi-range blind rivet nuts such as the GESIPA® PolyGrip®. The fast and automated operation ensures significant time savings and maximum efficiency in the production process.

Today, the devices are still in demand worldwide, are reliable in use and an integral part of the GESIPA® product range. You can still find the Firefox series in the current catalogue – proof of its quality and durability for 15 years!
