Thinking and acting sustainably is part of our DNA. As SFS Group, we want to actively engage with the community and the environment. Likewise, the impact of climate change affects us all. Our monoculture forests are no longer able to withstand the effects of drought, storm damage and bark beetle infestation and are rapidly dying. With a contemporary mixed-culture afforestation, we want to provide active help against forest dieback.

But a one-off planting campaign cannot achieve much. We will continue to do so and have decided to plant a tree for our jubilarians, our colleagues who are retiring and for our trainees who have passed their final exams. A tree hopefully lasts several hundred years.

Therefore, from now on we will plant a tree for every jubilarian, retiree and apprentice of SFS Group Germany GmbH. The planting action will be carried out by a representative selection of employees, managers and trainees of the responsible location. The responsibility for the tree planting campaign will rotate annually between the locations.

 
Tree planting campaign 24.03.2023 Hesse/Thuringia border area

On 24.03.2023, five employees/trainees from our site in Ruhla (Thuringia, Germany), representing all employees of SFS Group Germany GmbH, reforested a forest area in Gehaus near Dermbach (border Thuringia Hesse). In this symbolic tree planting campaign, 100 sycamores, pedunculate oaks and larches were planted. To ensure that the trees grew well, the weather gods not only provided plenty of rain in the weeks before the planting. Even during the planting campaign, the trees enjoyed pouring rain. However, this was no problem for our staff. We are proud to have successfully completed our planting campaign! Together with other company representatives and the tree sponsors Thuringia, we have created a new habitat for numerous plants and animals. The tree planting campaign has shown that together we can achieve a lot. These trees will make a valuable contribution to the protection of our environment in the future. We hope that this planting action will also inspire other companies to become active and do their part to protect the environment.
